Growing

Hello ya'll,

It's a super lovely foggy day here in Sandefjord. No complains though. In fact, what's there to complain about? Cozy warm radiator heat, torch heat, Jazz fusion playing in the background and an overall positive vibe...Life is good around these parts!

I am working on made to order items and hopefully will be able to have many new items finished by next week and ready to add to my shops.

There is quite a large shift in my designs and I love it. I have been feeling incredibly inspired and hope that my new items will be embraced by others as well.

The new designs are simpler, cleaner, organic and a bit more edgy with a tiny touch of Rock'n Roll which you have probably noticed on my last posting. I'm having great fun making molds and hope to be casting some of them early next week.

I have made a few titanium druzy necklaces which are great for the season, in fact, anytime of the year! They can dress up any plain outfit and really make you stand out!

This weekend I'll offer 30% off ANYTHING in my Etsy shop. The sale starts today at 1PM EST and ends on sunday, Nov. 20th at 12AM EST. Sorry,  no returns, no reservations, no layaways, in short, all sales are final.

First of all I'd like to extend a HUGE Thank You to all of you who snaggled up a few items from my shop this past week! WOW! I am truly humbled! Every single sale inspires me to continue on my path of  metal- smithing and makes me want to stretch myself as a metal artist!


Here are a two items fresh from the bench today:
Left the sand casting alone today and decided to make a couple of bezel set items with some pretty new stones I got in the mail last week!
First we have a stunning picture jasper heart cabochon that is set in sterling silver ( swoon, look at the pattern on this beauty ). I wanted to keep the setting simple to make the stone the center of attention.

The second item is a "Garden Party" necklace that showcases a beautiful ocean jasper cabochon that is suspended  off a cute hand pierced flower, embellished with a mother of pearl.

I am still having a few projects I am working on, but it's almost 6pm and I think I will have to keep my promise to J. that I am making breaded chicken nuggets for dinner. So I better get cracking in the kitchen and leave the studio alone for the time being.

Looking forward to spend an evening on the couch watching a recording of this weeks Project Runway!

Fall has made its mark here in southern Norway and with that a quiet force that took its place deep within my soul. Autumn always brings with it this sense of peace for me. I can't explain it, but this is a time for me when things that normally bother me to the core take a quiet turn and somewhat hibernate. I feel at peace and with that comes a great feeling of creativity. I wish I could bottle it and store it away for those days when the world within me is in a bit of turmoil.

Yesterday I had a great day sand casting silver. I think I finally got the hang of it which means that all of the items I casted turned out really well on the first try!

It's all great fun and I can't wait to continue on this path.

A trip to the park is planned tomorrow where I can hopefully find some more interesting things to cast. Thinking twigs and bark. Shall see what kind of treasures the forest holds for me!

Productive weekend

Well hello there! Long time no see!
It's bee a tad busy here the past couple of weeks. Much to do these days,  however, things have slowed down a bit now and life is getting back to a more steady rhythm.
I had such a great time this weekend in my studio, full of creative ideas. The muse was working non stop. Actually I could just keep on going, but since I have spend the majority of my two days off behind the bench I neglected those ever so fun chores around the house. It's a dreary fall day here in Sandefjord and while waiting for the tumbler to finish I decided to make a apple cake, well two in fact! Yummy moist apple cake with sugar glaze....oh can't wait for dessert...vanilla ice cream and warm apple cake...
I really shouldn't indulge, but cakes are few and far in between here in our household. I just love baking.

Blue Jean baby! A nice thick kyanite cabochon set in a simple sterling silver bezel. The band is stamped with a small ringlets design.

I ordered tons of picasso jasper cabochons that hopefully will get here this coming week. I am planning on making tons of earrings with those. Ahhhh can't wait.

Organic Leaf Necklace

Here is one piece of my latest stash that I managed to photograph this evening.

I hand formed the leaf for this pendant by hand while melting the silver. It's very organic and simple. I didn't want to overpower it with embellishments other than a 6mm bezel set onyx and a round "frame".I kept it unoxidized which would have been too rustic for this design.

Ruby Heart

Been making a few of these hearts in the last few months for custom orders. This one in my opinion is the prettiest yet to date. It features a bezel set 8x7mm pink ruby that I set inside a pure silver flower.

The heart is shaped as I am melting the silver. A very tedious process. One has to work very quickly without melting everything out of shape. I like the rustic look without the patina. This one I sanded smooth, yet is still has some lovely intentional dents to keep it a unique, yet rustic look. A brightly polished finish really makes this heart stand out. 

I made another, smaller one with a red garnet. Pictures of that one will have to wait perhaps until tomorrow. I am having bread dough on the go again and I am not sure if I will have enough daylight to take more pictures.
