New work

A perfect day to spend in my studio. Day off work, cloudy skies, tea on the kettle and Michael Franks playing in the background. I am so glad I finally managed to finish a large custom order for a very sweet lady. Three sun pendants with amber. What fun they were to make. I hope she'll like them as well as I do. I also made one for the shop. A beautiful lapis necklace in a scalloped setting on a textured baseplate. So lovely. The chain is adorned with blue quartz beads. These blues look so good against the darkened silver. I'm in love. The lapis teardrop I purchased on my last trip to Germany at a local lapidary hobbyist. He cuts and polishes stones as a hobby and occasionally sells them. I am so looking forward to going to Germany soon to visit my family. John and I will be driving "down" which will involve taking a 3.5 hr. ride on a ferry from here to Denmark. The rest of the trip will take approx. 10 hours to get to the southern part of Germany. There will be laughter, shopping and most of all good food. My mother has a hand built wood fire oven in the basement where she bakes wholesome breads in all shapes and sizes. Can't wait to dig my teeth in one of those delicious creations.

There will also be trips to some stone suppliers which one will find by the dozens around that area. The southern part of Germany has many stone enthusiasts. My dad is an avid stone collector and used to go to caves to search for rocks. When he got from those trips he used to use his stone cutter machine and sliced open different jaspers, often to reveal incredible druzy formations. it was always very fascinating for me, the anticipation for what might be inside the stone. I learned a lot from my dad when it comes to stones and never lost my desire for them.

Off to clean my ridiculously dirty studio. Will post some pictures of my studio space sometime this week.

Happy Sunny Monday

Ahhh, nothing is more full filling at times then to sit on the porch with a cup of tea to enjoy the early morning sun rise. I went out, took a couple of pictures of some spring flowers that are blooming underneath the apple  tree.
A great time for a reflection of gratitude!

New work

Spring has finally arrived here in lovely Sandefjord. Snow drops are in full bloom, crocuses are making its way through the earth, birds are chirping and the apple and cherry trees in the backyard are just a couple of weeks away from blooming. With all that going on my inspirations are bursting. I'm loving every minute of it! I am trying not to let the price of silver get me down, instead I am putting that energy into lovely new designs that I hope will be enjoyed by future customers.

This week I focused a lot more on earrings which I haven't done for a long time. It felt good. This whole week has been incredibly productive. It probably has to do that I took better care of myself, getting more rest and trying not to overwork myself. Ideas are flowing much easier when the mind and body is rested up.

We went to Sweden a couple of days ago and while sitting on the ferry I sketched tons of new designs that I am eager to work on in the next couple of days. While typing this the sun is hitting my back and I am torn on whether to spend the day outside or behind the bench. Perhaps I'll do a little bit of both. The backyard needs racking and some of my flower pots need cleaning. Plus I am thinking about baking some pita bread for tonights barbecue. 

I also want to shout out a big THANK YOU to all of my customers who without a doubt are the best one can ask for! Thank you soooo much for your support! I am truly humbled! Your support means the world to me and makes me want to keep on creating and better my craft!

Hello All

I'll be having a huge shop update later on today! Yippee...yeah, I know it's been a long while. Today I am taking a whole day behind the bench to give you something new and "freaking" awesome ( in my humble opinion ) :-)
There will be a couple of one of a kind woodland branch necklaces with prehnite stones, one necklace with a gorgeous bezel set picasso jasper and a couple of other surprises.

New work

A lovely simple ring, stamped with a sunburst pattern and set with a mother of pearl cabochon. Tumble polished to a brilliant shine. Made to order in your size!





This beauty is composed of sterling silver and a gorgeous charoite cab. I wanted to keep things simple to not take away from the beauty of this stone. I purchased this cab while on vacation in Germany last year.





Another organic chrysoprase necklace. Like the last one, this one is just equally stunning. I have three stones like these ones left. Thinking about making a ring with one of them.

Lunch with birds

I know I seem to be getting excited about the warm weather we are having here in southern Norway these days, but having lived at 69 degrees north, above the arctic circle for 4.5 years makes you really appreciate when you can feel the warmth on your face, sweat dripping and finally wearing skirts and shorts that I had tugged away for the past few years.
Today John and I went for a drive to check out some neighboring towns and also to familiarize ourselves with the area. Had lunch at a lovely bakery overlooking the ocean.
Bought some potting plants yesterday and had fun filling a couple of planters. Once the porch is cleaned up with still some of our moving boxes I will take some pictures.
In the meanwhile I'll leave you with some pictures I took today on our drive.

My latest necklace. Oxidized sterling silver pendant, organic and melted style. Set with a red garnet cabochon atop three flower petals.

A couple more organic pieces that I finished today! I'm on such a organic jewelry kick lately. I just can't seem to stop making hand molten hearts. I must admit that it is not easy making hand formed molten jewelry. More often than not they don't turn out the way I'd like them to. One has to work fast to make sure the whole piece doesn't melt into a clump.
The pieces I made today are slightly oxidized to bring out the details. I normally don't tumble polish all of my jewelry after they are oxidized, however, with these ones I did and I love the result.
Both these pieces come with lovely red coral beads, black onyx and rock crystal beads. Hope you'll like them as much as I do!
Now I am off to try to convince John to get a soft ice cream down on the waterfront. It is absolutely beautiful today. Tomorrow we are off to Sarpsborg for a concert. Bill Champlin is having an intimate concert ( he is an x-member of the band Chicago ). Should be fun. Will see if I can take some pictures!
It's a long weekend here in Norway. The 17th of May is Norway's national day and the streets are always filled with marching brass bands and dressed up Norwegians in their traditional outfits. Really beautiful.
