I'm back!

I know it's been a while since my last post. Honestly, I had some sort of writing block. I sat here often, started writing and then erased it all again. Not really sure why, perhaps I think that my posts have to have some sort of excitement to it for readers to follow up on my blog??
I've been really busy working, mainly with custom orders. So, I haven't had much time to update my Etsy shop with new goodies. However, I am well on the way to list some new items soon, very soon! I am completely out of sterling silver chain(s) and am waiting anxiously for it to arrive. It always seems to take so long since the postal system here in Norway takes the word "snail mail" really seriously. Also, anything that is marked with a content of over 200 Norwegian Kroner ( =$30 USD ) gets stuck at customs for days where they add another 25% duty tax on top of that!

I have been accepted to "Trunkt". I'm so excited!! This will give my jewelry a better chance to be seen. Yayyy!!

I am making fish gratin for dinner tonight, so I better get cracking and finish what I need to do.

Hopefully by the middle or end of this week I'll have some new stuff to show off! In the meanwhile, hope everyone is happy and doing well!

Big hug,

Sabine:-)

New Items

Due to the massive amount of snowfall in the past couple of days I decided to stay inside this weekend and spend some hours in the studio to update the Etsy shop. I mean, what else is there to do anyways? Right? Perhaps I am making the snowfall yet to be another excuse to spend more time working??
I want to live life to the fullest each day, to enjoy and submerge myself into utter bliss by being creative. I know that I will have to eventually thaw out from this long winter we've been having and start getting new inspiration from my gorgeous surroundings. John and I have this great place we love to go to, about an hours drive from here where they have these huge rock formations right along the beach. I usually take my sketchbook, find myself a nice place to chill while John is off doing his photography. It is so nice having a partner who enjoys being creative and understands my muse.

Here are some of my latest pieces that are all available in the shop now!

Hope you like 'em!

Happy sunday! :-)

A little bling update

Hello!

Hope everyone had a very pleasant and relaxing easter weekend!

Mine was great. I worked pretty much the whole weekend to finish some custom orders. I used to complain about working 40 hr weeks, now I work at least double so much. It doesn't seem like work actually, time just flies by so quickly because I enjoy every minute of it ( well, I'm lying, it's not fun when the solder doesn't want to flow right or when saw blades keep on breaking). However, the large part is tons of fun, although lately i find myself missing some sort of balance in my life. I am sooo looking forward to having spring arrive here in northern Norway so I can go for my walks along the beach down below, with my blanket and sketchbook in tow and enjoy the ocean breeze....*sigh*...

Below are three new pieces I just listed in my Etsy shop!

Hope you'll like 'em!

Cheerio!

Candy Land Norway

I took these pictures with my mobile phone a couple of days ago in one of the local grocery shops. There were two more isles like the ones pictured, fully stuffed with chocolates and candy. Of course they place them conveniently in front of the checkout counters. I have to say that Norway has one of the best chocolate I have ever eaten. I used to think that nothing can beat a belgian Callebaut chocolate, well, I might have to change my mind on that. Anyways, I think I need a 12 step chocoholic program since I can't seem to go a day without having at least one bite of it.

Have a happy easter everyone!

Sabine

Cinnamon buns and rings

Hahaha, nice combination I know...but that's what I did today.
I made a couple of really sweet Primrose rings, inspired by springtime ( well I am still imagining spring as we still have snow covered lawns ). The last day for snow for 2008 was the 12th of May. It was madness since everyone had already changed their winter tires.
I hope we will get some warmer weather soon.

Here are the rings I made today:

Botswana Agate Cabochon Ring

This is what lazy sunday afternoons can do to a crazy chick like me:
A Botswana Agate Cabochon that has been set in a handcrafted bezel and embellished with sterling silver flowers and a molten copper pebble. I polished it to a tireless shine and I think I am keeping the shiny finish. Oxidizing it would take away the beauty of this ring.

The hills are alive with the sound of music

Was just on my way out the door this afternoon to go for a walk when it started snowing like mad half ways through my walk. So, I just turned around, went home and sat in my studio for a few hours to create a few pairs of lovely earrings. There are a few copper earrings in combination with sterling silver. Oh the sound they made when I took them out of the tumbler...so crisp and clean. Metal sounds completely different when cleaned and polished.

So, now it's already 7:30 pm and I still have some dinner to make. I'm kind of uninspired these days with cooking, although, funny enough I have tons of cookbooks. Baking is way more fun.

Congratulations again to the winners of my easter give away!

Happy lazy sunday!

I'd like to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to comment and participate! I really appreciate all the thoughts and ideas you brought upon me. I have already made some minor changes ( thanks to your ideas ) and will continue doing so. I realize its important to have a piece of jewelry modeled to get an idea of how the piece looks like when someone's wearing it. Going to work on that!

Gratefully yours,

Love,

Sabine

P.S. Winners get in touch with me at : sabineajewelry@gmail.com or via "conversations" in my Etsy shop

It seems like that I do my best and most efficient work when I am trying to cope with inner turmoil.
My dad is not feeling so great these days. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer a couple of years ago and has since had radiation therapy. Now, after having just had some unrelated surgery they found a couple of swollen lymph nodes that seems to be of some concern. His doctor has told him a while back that the cancer he's had is of an aggressive type. He is obviously worried and so is my mom. I so hope he'll be okay.
My dad and I have never really been close. It was tough growing up as the oldest of three girls. He had quite an aggressive nature about him and would often yell and scream at us for no apparent reason. Stress was a common factor in my life. Having to worry constantly about whether I had done something wrong or not. Yikes, that was just awful.
He has since changed a lot and is a lot more reserved and calmer than he used to be. I love my dad and owe him a great deal even though he has caused me a lot of pain back then. He's had it tough and should've dealt with his demons before having brought us into this world. Back then, sadly, it was almost a common factor to be brought up in a strict way.
Anyways, I have grown a lot and put all my energy into being the best person I can be and without my creativity I would go bonkers. I need it like water. Today was a day of intense creating. I need that. It felt extremely therapeutic and filled with joy and good music. I try and put my sadness into something creative and it works ( almost ) every time.

Now, I'm off to take my last few items out of the tumbler and make myself something to eat...I'm starving!

Below are some new items I finished today!

Ciao for now,

xox,

Sabine:-)

This rugged and organic pendant has been hand forged and embellished with a bezel set Turquoise cabochon and hand formed wire pedals. Sweet as pie :-)
All available in my Etsy shop!

Thank you!

WOW! Thanks a million for all your nice comments and suggestions! As you've probably noticed I have already made some minor changes. John made me a cool new banner for my Etsy shop which I think looks pretty cool and goes with the overall theme of the shop.
I am also working on taking pictures of the jewelry with someone modeling it. Been hesitant to do that since I think that I am not very photogenic. So I'll give it a try and see what happens. If they don't turn out well enough I'll get one of my gorgeous friends to come over and model again.

It's just past 8 am and I am going to bundle up and take a long brisk walk. I love early morning hours and the stillness of it. If I could, I would only work nights in my studio. No phone's ringing, no traffic noises, just a peaceful easy feeling.

I hope it's peaceful wherever you are!

xx
