Baking Bonanza

Just came back from a windy and slushy run and decided to spend the rest of the day staying inside, baking and watching movies with John.
Thinking about baking some Boboli bread, pizza and cinnamon buns. I get into these kind of baking spurts once in a while when I feel like I have to channel some of my left over creative energy into something other than making jewelry. It gets too consuming at times, and I do need the occasional break from it. I do miss at times being a pastry chef. Although I would never want to step another foot into a professional kitchen. I don't think I could deal with the daily stresses of that kind of job ever again. Not for that kind of pay anyways.
Perhaps I will go skating later on this evening. I always loved it even though I can't skate backwards. ☺
Tomorrow I will need to spend some quality time with some incredibly beautiful new stones I got in from my new supplier. Thinking about Cabochon work and how to implement it into some of my new ideas that I haven't seen anywhere before.

I'm off to the shop to get some ingredients for the above indulgences.

Etsy Gift Guides

I just noticed that my Twig necklace is being featured on the Etsy Gift Guides:

Party time

John and I are having a nice visit for the first time from his nephew Kim Andre who is here for the whole weekend from Bergen. He's just 23 yrs. old and has never been up here in Tromsø. Since John is playing with his recreational band in a local pub tonight I thought to take him with me and hit the dance floor ( well, that sounds kind of extreme since I really don't dance at all ). In fact I don't know a single dance step. Yup, I know, pretty sad, huh? Believe me, I have tried, but it's just not happening. It's an awful sight, trust me.
Nevertheless, I am planning on having a great time. It's been quite a while since I went out on the town after 8pm HA! :-)

I promise to have some new items to show either sunday or monday.

Have a super lovely weekend everybody!

xx

Gratitude

I have been getting so many lovely comments about my jewelry in the last few months and I think its time to give everyone that supports my love for crafting jewelry a BIG warm hearted THANK YOU! You have no idea how much it means to me hearing that you like what I do. It brightens up my day and makes me want to strive to become better and reach for the stars :-)

So, from the bottom of my heart : Thank you!

Goodies

Just a couple of new items that I managed to get finished today:

One is a beautiful Turquoise Cabochon ring, set in a handmade bezel with a lovely stamped pattern on the base plate and on the band itself.

Free shipping

It's mothers day weekend here in Norway and I am offering free shipping  on all of my items in my etsy shop

Not much to tell today. It's darn cold here ( minus 11 celius ,  fahrenheit?? ) The funny thing is that I have lived in places that were three or four times as cold and it never bothered me then, however, now I freeze just at the sight of our outside temperature gauge. Even with the fire place going I still need to sit here in my comfy chair with a blanked wrapped around me.

I will be posting some new items early next week! I am just working on the last finishing touches before I hand them over to John who takes care of all my photography and graphics work.
There will be a couple of cheaper items as well, simple and classy.

Hope everyone is keeping cozy and well this weekend!

This is the picture taken after the pendant has been cleaned and tumbled to a bright polish

The beauty and the beast

Before:

I had a couple of custom orders of my twig style pendant and thought  it would be cool to show you ( those of you who don't solder ) how different a piece looks with all the goo and copper residue that one gets from firing up sterling silver.

Front Page Treasuries

Once again I was lucky enough to have been featured on the front page by  lovely etsiers! I find it difficult to snaggle up treasuries myself. I always seem to miss them by just a few minutes.

Well, here are two who ended up the front page a couple of days ago! :-))

Some new Cabochon work

Here are two pieces I managed to finish today! Both of them are Brazilian Agate Cabochons.

They will be for sale in my Etsy shop bright and early on thursday morning:-)

Snow, snow and more snow

I just came in from shoveling another foot of snow. The good girlfriend I am I went outside and shoveled the driveway and cleaned off the car for John who was called in to do another nightshift.
I love being outside, breathing the fresh crisp air and taking in the stillness of the night.
It was 8:30 PM when I was out there and there were so many people jogging or taking their daily walk. Norwegians are all about being out in nature, hiking, skiing, jogging, walking.... I love it.

Been having another busy day with custom orders. I seem to be getting a lot of them lately. It is especially fun when your customers are easy to work with and they know what they want.

I've got a request of making a Apple Logo pendant from a male customer today. I like all the broad ideas and requests I get. Fun to be able to stretch yourself a bit as an artist.

Now I'm off to finish a couple of rings that are on order and then it seems I might just put my cozy pants on and watch some telly. I'm so out of the loop on what's going on with TV series and such. I don't watch that much TV. I usually tune in to watch the news and that's it. I do enjoy the occasional obnoxious reality show. We watch a ton of movies when we both are home, but to be honest I spend most of my time in my messy small studio where I am equipped with two large Apple iMac's ( one is John's ). I listing to a ton of podcasts while working. I also like having my Mac close by so I can catch up on convos and e-mails. I believe in returning e-mails and inquiries as soon as possible. Myself I think it is rather rude and terribly unwise to let your customers ( or potential customers ) wait for an unreasonable time to get back to them. Good customer service is the key in succeeding in business, whether one likes it or not.

Okay, nuff for now!

Laters!

Another newbie

Volcano Cherry Quartz Cabochon Pendant. Needless to say, I'm in love with it. Hope it will find its way to a lovely customer.

Good day ya'll!

Well, it's been quite a productive day for me. I finally have a bit of time to update my Etsy shop with new delicious pieces ( if I can say so myself ). I am still waiting on a huge order of Cabochons. Seems they are stuck at customs once again. Nothing moves fast at Norwegian customs and they charge you 25% on top of anything that is worth more than 200 Kroner ( $28 USD ), plus a service charge on top of that 25%!! It adds up quite quickly.

Been up since about 6 am and have worked almost ever since ( it is 4 pm now ). I often get side tracked though, especially with my iMac close at range.

John had worked the nightshift and is sleeping in the bedroom which is not that far from my studio. Although he tells me that I can  hammer and make as much noise as I need to, I just can't get myself to do it. He sleeps like a log, however, I just don't enjoy beating metal on metal when he's sleeping.

Going to take a break for a couple of hours and finish folding some of the laundry that has been piling up for days. I'm looking forward to not having to cook tonight. Most sunday nights we order chines take-out, which, I know is not that healthy to eat all the time, but damn enjoyable :-)
Really have to get the motor going to taking my power walks again. The temperatures have dropped quite a bit in the last three days and the ice is melting which makes for a slippery walk. Excuses, excuses, I know, I have tons of them:-)

Have a great and cozy sunday!

I'll have more pieces to show in the next day or two!

xxxx,

Sabine
