Can you love a stone?

Hello again!

I'm back!! We are on our drive back to Norway and are at this very moment in a hotel room in lovely Copenhagen.
I could've spend more time with my family in Germany. It was utter delight. We all had so much fun, sat outside in my parents large porch drinking Bailey's until midnight, laughing and joking around. I will talk a bit more about my trip in one of my next blog entries. It is almost 11pm and we are pretty beat from 12 hours of driving. Tomorrow morning we have plans on strolling the local 1 mile "stroget" which is europeans largest shopping street. Hope to visit Topshop and get meself some cool clothes.

I am attaching some pictures of stones I have purchased while in Germany. I can't even begin to describe how super duper excited I am about them. I got so lucky because my dad used to collect rocks and knows a LOT of great people who cut and polish rocks. We must have visited about 5 different rock shops while I was there.

Take a look at and let me know what you think of those little beauties! Can't wait to start using them! I promise to fill you in with all the details in a couple of days when I'm back home:-)

Much love,
Sabine:-)

Germany

I'm in absolute heaven. Finally arrived in Germany late sunday night after three days of driving ( 36 hours of driving ). It was incredible to drive all the way through sweden which has the BEST highways in the world. Stockholm is utterly beautiful and I hope we get to spend some time there on our way back. I was so amazed how big and vast Scandinavia is. I'm so lucky to be living in such a beautiful place.
The german Autobahn is an absolute nightmare and a fascination at the same time. With no speed limit you can only imagine how fast people are driving. We were stuck in traffic jams several times in 30 degrees ( 86 fahrenheit ). John and I switched driving several times during the long drive on the autobahn because of the high amount of stress and concentration we needed to keep up with these speeders. I even drove a few times about 160 km/h. It felt good actually, but a tad scary.

John and I went to an italian ice cream parlor for lunch today. Oh how I missed my italian ice cream. Simply delicious.
Afterwards we went on a stroll down main street and found a rock shop with incredible cabochons that I have never seen before. Of course I had to spend a big pile of my Euros to get me some. I could've bought every single one of them. They were all really gorgeous. I will have an update and pictures tomorrow!

I'm off for a trip around the country side!

And ze vinner is.....

The winner of my August Give-Away is.....*ta da la ta....* BELLA!!!!

A huge thank you to all of you who entered and took the time to leave a comment! :-)

I will be having another contest early next month upon my return from our holidays.

I am super excited about going on a trip. We'll be driving all the way through Sweden on the way down which means stopping at some nice beaches and a stop over in Stockholm. Never been there, so this will be quite an adventure for me. After that we'll be off to Copenhagen in Denmark and from thereon to the south west part of Germany to visit some of my family that I haven't seen in about four years. If everything goes well weather wise and such we might just take a drive to Paris which is about a 6 hour drive from where my family lives.

My Etsy shopwill be staying open during this time.

Looking forward to be working on some new pieces when I get back with a ton of new stones from my suppliers in Germany.

I'll be posting some pictures frequently while on our trip!:-)

Featuring a fierce Labradorite necklace

I'm busy as a bee these days, trying to make some more items for my jewelry show in a couple of weeks in Germany. I am not sure what to expect, but hope it will go well. In the meanwhile, if you have an eye out for one of my pieces in my Etsy shop. I would suggest that you get it before the 14th of August since I won't be able to guarantee that those pieces will still be available after the show.
I'm pretty excited to get away for a couple of weeks. Looking forward to the long drive ( 36 hours ). John and I love driving! It will be a ton of fun I'm sure.

It's 9 pm and I need to get cracking. I have to pick up John from work, plus the dishwasher still needs some serious attention ( emptying and filling ), plus washing the laundry, plus folding, plus ironing....ahhh, sounds incredibly exciting. I don't know how you mothers out there do it. I can't understand how two people can have sooo much laundry...every single day. Is that possible?

We've been having such great weather these past two weeks. Hard to believe that living above the arctic circle can produce temperatures up to 25 degrees C. It's keeping everyone's spirits up! :D

Okay, nuff for now!

Have a good one!

Cheerio!

My birthday gift to the Mr.

I often find it very difficult to purchase something for John since he has ( almost ) everything. He gives me little hints here and there but ultimately it is nice to receive something that one doesn't expect. This time, for his birthday I asked a friend of mine who is a VERY talented artist to draw a caricature of John including some of his most beloved and characteristic things which include his smile, drum kit, love of music and his philosophy of living strong ( he wears the Lance Armstrong yellow wrist band ). When I first saw the drawing I almost started crying for joy. It contains the very essence that John radiates to me which is joy when he sits behind his drum kit and gets to play with his band. :D

If you are interested in getting a loved one something VERY special like this caricature, let me know and I would gladly get you in touch with him. He charges a $100 USD for a A3 caricature. He is also great at portrait drawing and drew a portrait of Bill Clinton when he was here in Tromsø about two years ago that he got to take back home.

Here is the drawing of John which is copyrighted by the artist Rolf Klaudiussen! Please do not copy unless you have gotten permission to do so! Thank you!

Oops, I almost forgot to mention this piece. It is the latest addition to my shop! I'm super excited about this one since I used one of my most hoarded stones. I think the color in this stone is absolutely stunning. Hope it will make its way into the hands of a new owner who appreciates the beauty of it as much as I do! :-)
